I am a curious person who loves learning and finding answers. My favourite question is, "why?".
I usually see the big picture and then reluctantly go through the pain of finding out details.
From a very young age I was in love with computers and programming. I worked as a software engineer for 6 years. I am still a computer nerd.
Later in my life, this love of computers has extended to studying a more sophisticated computational system, which is the human brain. So, I am gradually turning into a brain nerd.
I shall mention that I have a hobby which initially motivated me to take up studying the human mind and brain. That hobby is dancing. I wanted to know how does the brain perceive emotions from dance.
While my initial ambitions to study perception of emotions from dance movements were curtailed after a pilot study, I ended up writing a thesis about the influence of emotional hand gestures on visual attention.
Maybe one day I will get back to studying how the brain processes emotions from dance. For now, my research into mechanisms of visual perception and sustained interest in emotion and attention interactions are fun and challenging enough to keep me enjoying my work.
